Why I Think the Los Angeles Rams Will Not Repeat as Super Bowl Champions This Upcoming Season

On February 13th,2022, the Los Angeles Rams became World Champions by winning Super Bowl 56 against the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 becoming the second team to win a super bowl in their stadium just after one year when Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had done the same thing. But the question now lies as the 2022 NFL season inches closer, Will the Los Angeles Rams repeat as Super Bowl Champions again?

Why I Think the LA Rams won’t repeat as Super Bowl Champions again this season

Yes, I know most would say that the Rams would be the first team to go back to back since the New England Patriots in 2004 and 2005. Still, the only reason why the Patriots did that was cause they had Tom Brady, but the Rams would not be able to do this since once a team wins or loses a super bowl; they deal with the Super Bowl hangover, which is simply the following season after winning or losing a super bowl that team will most likely do terribly the following season. Take the Denver Broncos, for instance; in 2016, they won Super Bowl 50 with the likes of Peyton Manning, who is now a hall of Famer by the way, Von Miller who even though played with the Rams when they won their super bowl last season is now with the Bills. Still, after the Broncos had won that super bowl, they had fallen off the face of the AFC West and haven’t been great ever since, but that could be the fact that they have been in a quarterback drought ever since Manning had retired. Likewise, the Rams will most likely face the same result since they had spent all of their drafts picks on the blockbuster trade of the century back in 2020 when Matthew Stafford was traded from the Detroit Lions to the LA Rams in exchange for a first overall quarterback from 2016 Jared Goff who I may mention is doing not so great in Detroit just by looking at last year’s record from Detroit which was 3-13-1. Furthermore, one of the many reasons the Rams could most likely not repeat is the curse of the super bowl hangover.

More Formidable Opponents

Another reason why the LA Rams won’t repeat as Super Bowl champs this season is cause they have to face more formidable opponents since even though they finished first in the NFC West season and were the 4th seed in the playoffs in the NFC and somehow won the whole darn thing they won’t be able to repeat this season. After all, they have more formidable teams to play than last season, such as the Bills, Cowboys, Buccaneers, Raiders, Packers, Chargers, and Chiefs. All of these teams except the Chargers had made the postseason last year. Even though they had lost than during the offseason, they had most likely gotten better, which could cause the Rams some turmoil this season, not realizing how good all of these teams are and especially having to start their season off with the Buffalo Bills, who are a very young, talented and hungry team who want to win big games badly and make it in the postseason this upcoming year which could cost the Rams an 0-1 start possibly. As a result, the rams would have an unlikely chance of repeating as champions of the NFL again because of more teams that are hungry to win.

Not Enough explosive Weapons

Lastly, the Rams won’t repeat because even though they have some explosive weapons on both sides of the ball, such as Matthew Stafford as Quarterback, Cooper Kupp as Wide receiver, Cam Akers as running back, Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, Nick Scott, and newly aquiredBobby Wagner from the Seahawks during the offseason is great and all, but they don’t have enough explosive weapons as other teams do, which could cause a drop-off this season and ultimately cost the Rams a repeat trip to winning the Lombardi again; so furthermore, because they don’t have enough weapons, it causes cost them another trip back to winning the Super Bowl.

Based on all these reasons, the Rams have an improbable chance of running it back for another year. Still, we will have to see what happens during this year’s regular season to evaluate whether or not they deserve to make it back, but there you go; that makes my take on why I think the Rams won’t make it back to the Super Bowl again this season.
